ELMLE – The Musical: Find your Part

Pre Conference Jan 25, 2024

Main Conference Jan 26-27, 2024

Join us in spectacular London Town for our 38th annual conference January 25-27, 2024. This year we’ll go all in for ELMLE – The Musical! Our theme speaks to the idea that each of us plays an important role at our schools; we each bring particular strengths, and we want to explore the many ways an ensemble comes together to bring the opus that is “the middle school experience” to life.  We know that part of the magic of middle school is that it’s a place where we belong, and it takes all of us to make the production work. Come and be part of the ELMLE cast and crew as we explore our creative, collaborative, and technical roles — essential elements of the big show! Let’s continue our professional learning around supporting our students and fostering the ultimate middle school experience!

RETHINKING EDUCATION, POTENTIAL, AND SKILLS FOR AN AGE OF ANXIETY AND AI

Students are anxious about their future due to automation. A 2023 Junior Achievement Survey found 66 percent of teens are anxious about finding a job in the future due to artificial intelligence. A 2023 Future of Jobs Report by the World Economic Forum found that companies expect that 42% of their business tasks will be automated by 2027. The Jobs Report also found that critical and creative thinking, resilience, flexibility, curiosity, and lifelong learning will be the most important skills needed by workers to adapt to this AI world. Fortunately, psychological and brain sciences research has found that these skills can be learned and can lead to future success. Psychological and brain sciences research has found that these skills can be taught and that being resilient is important for both creativity and curiosity.

Dr. Cash will be offering a pre-conference 1/2 day session and one break-out session.
